  2. Submit an Immersion Program Application Form directly to the Elementary School by 4:00 p.m., February 28, 2014.
    1. Applications are available on the school’s web page, or a hard copy at the school. A generic form can be found here. If mailing your application, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive a dated copy of the application.
  3. Obtain a dated copy of your application from the school. Your dated copy is your confirmation of receipt of your application. It is your responsibility to confirm with the school that the application was received.
  4. Watch for notification of your child’s selection for the program by March 14, 2014. If you do not receive it by March 21, 2014, please call the school.

For families living outside of the school’s attendance boundaries, parents must submit an Out-of-Area Transfer Form for each sibling they would like to also attend the school.
Conditions for Placement in the Dual Immersion Program
Participation in the Utah Dual Language Immersion program is considered to be a comprehensive educational experience. Beginning in the first grade, paired English and target language teachers collaborate to support student mastery of both the core content standards and target language skills in a full day program. It is our expectation that students who participate in the Utah Dual Language Immersion program participate fully in the school academic day and its prescribed instructional design.

This application does not guarantee enrollment in the program. Students will be selected for the program using the following process:

School and district personnel will determine the number of spaces that will be available for students enrolled at each elementary, as well as the number of spaces for students not currently enrolled and requesting an out-of-area transfer. The number of spaces available in each category is based on enrollment depending on the needs of the school to maintain the dual immersion programs. If we have received more applications than available spots, a lottery will be used to determine placement in the program. Students with siblings already enrolled in the Immersion program and students with background in the immersion language will receive priority consideration. If the child is selected to attend the dual immersion program, it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure consistent, punctual attendance by providing transportation to and from the school. An immersion program is most effective when students remain in the program for a sustained period of time. Enrolled students are expected to continue with the program through 6th grade and then through junior high with continuation into high school unless the family moves, or a school-parent team decision is made that it is in the best interest of the student to have a different placement.
